Creative Arts and Play After School

New Opening Time: September 2024
Edit Battlesides

Our new after school program is designed to maximize kids' time in the activities they are most interested in,

  • from cardboard construction to pitched indoor nerf battles,
  • from tabletop role playing games to live-action games at nearby Minnehaha Creek,
  • from expressive writing to crafting shows with our new stage and lighting system,
  • from computer-assisted design to full-on production with our in-house laser cutter and 3D printer,

Adventures in Cardboard has the most talented and kid-friendly staff in the Twin Cities, ready to create safe space for making new friends. Beyond the zany and immersive activities we host, Adventures in Cardboard has always been a place to create lasting community.

Each month our program will have a special focus often connected to arts festivals and other events happening in our neighborhood. The Art Sled Rally , the Mayday Parade & Festival,  Barebones' Halloween Extravaganza - we have friends in all sorts of artistic places!

Our program will be hosted in our new center at Station 24 on a month-to-month basis, renewable as families desire. Each month can include up to  sixteen sessions over four weeks, Monday through Thursday, with occasional make up days on Fridays. Families can customize this schedule by choosing any number of days per week (1, 2, 3 or 4) and the specific days per week they'd like their kids in the program (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays).

Kids can arrive as early as 2:30pm and stay until 6:30pm.

To support new friendships being forged, families currently in a program will have the chance to renew their schedule, change their schedule or drop the program before we open the following month to general registration.

Many public schools in Minneapolis provide transportation to our pickup zone on the corner of East 45th Street and Hiawatha Avenue.  Click here for a quick peek to see if Station 24 is within the attendance zone of your school. Our staff can also get you in touch with other families interested in arranging car pools from your school.

Station 24 is a beautiful historic fire station restored and operated as a creative center by Adventures in Cardboard. We have multiple areas indoor and out for creative projects, gaming and physical play. We have a new stage and lighting system. We have an envious array of art and gaming supplies. We have a wide variety of tools including a professional laser cutter and several 3D Printers. We are located right next door to Minnehaha Creek at 4501 Hiawatha Ave S, Minneapolis, 55406.
