The Alchemist’s Bargain
The Story: Set in a medieval fantasy world of monsters and magic, known as Zanth, You are adventurers who hail from different lands across the realm. You have each found yourselves, for one reason or another, at a lone tavern on the side of the road called The Broken Lute. Inside, there are few patrons, but one of them is a peculiar old woman who approaches all of you. Seeing that you seem to be capable adventurers, she offers you a quest. She calls herself Magda the Alchemist, and says that in exchange for completing her quest, she will reward you with riches beyond your wildest dreams. She seeks a magical vessel, The Lord's Crucible, which is said to provide endless quantities of any potion brewed within.
You will journey past the Weeping Woods, through the Swamps of Graywater, and to the top of Irongut Mountain. She gives you all a small assortment of powerful potions to use on your quest, and a magical Ferrystone, which will transport you back to her home once you've retrieved the Crucible. She warns you that the trip will not be easy, there will be monsters, hazardous terrain and villains abound as you make your way to the Mountain's peak. But she also says there are many treasures and magical artifacts to be found in the wild lands ahead, as well as curious strangers and merchants to aid you on your way. Will you answer her plea, and embark on the adventure of a lifetime?

Player Preparation: A MICROPHONE IS REQUIRED. We will be using voice chat to communicate, and it is crucial that we can all hear each other. Headphones are encouraged, because they help cut down on feedback and echoing. We will spend the first 30-60 minutes of the first session learning how to play and choosing characters. You will receive some background information before the first session, but don’t do get ahead of yourself — all final decisions about our characters will be made on the first day. You’ll be choosing from a series of pre-made characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. You will all need to register a free account on roll20.net, if you don’t already have one. Everyone will receive an invitation link to the game in their email on the first day, before we play.
